A home for bibliophiles and storytellers

Dear Members,

Some stories are not merely read. They are collected, underlined, carried home in coat pockets and remembered for years.

The Briar Society was created for readers, writers, and seekers of beautiful stories — a private literary society built around books, conversation, ritual, and retreat. We exist as both a reading community and a creative sanctuary — bringing together those who long for slower living, meaningful conversation and deeper connection through literature.

At the heart of the society is our monthly book club. Each month, members receive a carefully curated literary selection accompanied by thoughtful correspondence and beautifully designed paper goods intended to transform reading into a ritual rather than a routine. Members are invited into intimate discussions both online and in person, gathering in candlelit spaces, quiet cafés, libraries, and hidden corners to share ideas and opinions.

Beyond this, The Briar Society hosts seasonal literary gatherings and immersive writing retreats designed for aspiring and established writers alike. Set within stunning countryside houses and atmospheric locations, our retreats offer author workshops, creative sessions, discussions, and uninterrupted time to write, reflect, and reconnect. We believe writing flourishes in community and that some of the most important conversations happen long after the workshop ends.

Members must apply within, subject to approval.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

In kindred regards,

TBS
